General message

I have noticed that many J-landers are suffering with bronchitis or pneumonia at this time, brought on in part by severe winter weather and sometimes the wonderful healthcare system in the US, which puts money before patients. Sorry, was unable to leave that out. I wish you all a speedy recovery. If you were given antibiotics, please finish your course.

A number of J-landers have suspended their blogs for personal reasons. I hope all will manage to return to the community soon.

Oh, by the way, it is February 22nd. Only a week to go until March, and only a month to go and it will be spring.

Dana / Journey to Success

Dana has had the most awful litany of medical diagnoses, and misdiagnoses. She is finding it difficult to motivate herself, so please call round.

Joan / Stranny Dayze

Joan's dog Sam has suffered an apparent heart attack. He has lived, but is on several medications with things still hanging in the balance. Please call round.

Procedures

I don't want to appear as one for nit picking, but can I remind people that requests like the one made by Jeanne (previous entry) are more appropriate for the Giving Tree, hosted by Angie on her Canyonsun04 screenname.

Call for Support is intended to highlight J-landers who need moral support for either themselves or immediate family and friends, in order that other journals can rally round. If you spot people in need in your local community, where people in J-land might help, the Giving Tree journal would be the place to highlight.

I hope the couple that Jeanne highlighted are able to access the support they require.

Thanks,
Guido

Husband and Wife Need Help

I am looking for someone who can check in with an ill couple in the State College, PA area.  They need basic home care assistance while they recuperate.  If you live in that area and would be interested in helping out and spreading some cheer to a couple that really needs it, please email me privately at CANDLEJMR@aol.com and let me know your name, your address, your phone number and your availability and I will get back to you.

Thank you all so very much.

((hugs))

Krissy and Val

Krissy (Sometimes I think) and Valerie (There is a Season) are sisters, and both have a lot on their plate today.

Krissy went to the ER, where it was discovered she had pneumonia. The doctor had to send her home with antibiotics. She and husband John are trying to cope, but finding it a challenge.

Her sister Valerie has seen her boyfriend rushed to hospital with fluid on the heart with only minutes to spare. Please call round both.

Mary Louise / Watching my sister disappear

Mary Louise has told me that her husband, John, was diagnosed with prostate cancer 2 months ago. He will now undergo surgery next Monday, February 25th. Please keep him and Mary Louise in thoughts at this time.

Over the past number of years, Mary Louise has been coping with the severe decline of her sister, Peggy, as a result of Pick's Disease, a close parallel to Alzheimers.

Leigh / Leigh's World

I thought I've leave an update on Aunty Brenda.  She will be taken to a local hospice tomorrow to live out her days.  Thank you so much to J-Land for your kind thoughts and prayers.  They bring great comfort to my family at this sad time.  Thank you for my there, my friends.

Request

Not strictly speaking a call for support, but as this journal has got a broader coverage than Northern Trip, I'll (also) post this here.

Jeannette (jlocorriere05, private journal "Welcome to my Travels") has not posted since New Year's Eve, and attempts to contact by email do not elicit a response. If anyone has heard anything from Jeannette since the beginning of the year, please leave a comment.

Comment from: jeadie05 - "I rang Jeannette a few days ago ,she is fine ,so is Andy though gets tired easily ,Jeannette has been busy at work ,and looking forward to her holiday with Andy ,she is having computer problems ,and very little time to sort it out ...love Jan xx"

Procedures

Just to make clear that each and everyone of us can make an entry on this journal to flag up those in need. Please make sure you include a link to a journal - I suggest you copy and paste, rather than type in URLs.

Please leave a comment in case of problems, I monitor comments on this journal as well as entries.

Lori / Bowyerlori

Lori had a journal until recently, but was forced to close it down after negative feedback from her family. She has told me that her daughter lost a baby, I have no further details. Please leave a comment on this entry, which I have pointed her to.

New Journal

This journal is open to all in J-land who see a fellow journaler in need of moral support, much along the lines of what I myself do on Northern Trip, and other people on their journals.

The idea is that we can't read all journals, but if someone is spotted who is in need of some attention from J-land, a central point of call is established where such messages can be left on "on behalf of". The emphasis should be clear.

I suggest we ALL put this journal on both comments and entry alerts in order to monitor progress. Please pass the word round!

I shall continue to feature Calls for Support on my own journal, but will copy them into this one as well.
